Board Nomination Information
The BMSC Board of Directors meets virtually on the 2nd or 3rd Thursday of each month @ 6:00 pm.
Eligibility for Officers
To serve as an Officer, a person must have been a member in good standing of the Brushy Mountain Shag Club for at least one year prior to taking office and must remain a member in good standing while serving. The Board may also appoint or elect additional officers as needed - such as a Parliamentarian, Assistant Secretary, or Assistant Treasurer. The duties of these officers are determined by the Board, and they serve at the Board’s discretion.
All nominees for Director or Officer - whether nominated by the Nominations and Elections Committee or from the floor - must be members in good standing at the time of nomination and must have maintained good standing for the entire year prior to the year they would serve if elected. Nominees for President and Vice President must also have previously served at least one term as a Director or Officer before the year they would serve, as of the fourth quarterly meeting.
Duties of the Treasurer
The Treasurer of the Brushy Mountain Shag Club (BMSC) is responsible for handling all club funds and property. This includes receiving money, giving receipts, and depositing funds in the club’s bank accounts. The Treasurer also performs general duties of the office and any additional tasks assigned by the President or the Board of Directors.
Duties of Directors (Members-at-Large)
Directors (Members-at-Large) are voting members of the BMSC Board who help guide club activities and support the Board in running the club. In addition to the four officer positions and the ex-officio President, the Board can have up to five Directors, for a maximum of ten members.
Nominating and Elections Committee
The Nominating and Elections Committee will meet as needed to prepare a list of nominees for the four officer positions, the President (who becomes an Ex-Officio Director), and up to five additional Directors. This list will serve as the Committee’s official report, and the names included are considered nominated for their respective positions without further motion.
Before submitting the slate to the members, the Committee will review its recommended nominees with the Board of Directors. The final list of nominees will be sent to all members via email in November. At the annual members’ meeting in December, the Nominating and Elections Committee will present its list of nominees to the members for voting.
